The weather looks a bit more promising in New England and I can actually see the mounds of snow melt away! Hopeful signs of Spring send me to my to library of design books where I can dream and plan for the seasons ahead. Here are a few of my favorites:
Perfect Porches by Paula S. Wallace provides the ideal escape to another season, that I hope is not too far away (thank you, Sir Groundhog!). I can dream about making my porch the perfect place to relax and welcome family and friends.
Anna Kasabian has written a book about dreamy places for guests to relax and unwind. Guest Rooms and Private Places is my inspiration for creating a room to welcome guests. I am particularly drawn to the images of a beautiful island home in Oahu, Hawaii, where for a short time, we lived, and were able to see the both the ocean and mountains on a daily basis.
And, thinking about the ocean and looking a bit farther ahead to lazy summer days, I will dip into Mary Emmerling's, Beach Cottages. I can already hear the water lapping on the sand!

Valentine's Day is the perfect day to watch one of my favorite all-time movies, When Harry Met Sally. I love Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in this sweetest of movies, that never fails to make me smile!
I hope you are doing something that will make you smile on this Valentine's Day.

Today's inspiration is Chinese New Year, which begins today. Since this is the Year of the Rabbit we should look forward to a more peaceful year - good news personally and globally!
I would love to set my table with this centerpiece from Anthropologie.
This little guy looks very cozy in his scarf, from this Etsy store.

The weather outside is frightful and very white! The snow continues to sift, drift and pile up in our little New England town, so I decided to take a snow day and close the store early. It is wonderful to have a bit of unscheduled time to search for ideas that shout "Spring"!
I am inspired by this image, (via Garden Design) of artist, Bella Meyer, granddaughter of artist, Marc Chagall, holding this beautiful, vibrant bouquet of peonies, roses and calla lilies. I would love to visit her floral design shop, Fleurs Bella on my next visit to New York City.

The past few weeks I have plotted and planned my new home office. I love this design and layout from Pottery Barn which would fit perfectly in my little room on the third floor of the house! With all those drawers and cubbies, I might be able to keep my resolution to organize my office. I love the texture of the rattan chair and the simplicity of that light fixture.

In my quest to replace some aging furniture and redesign a space in my New England home, I discovered Paste. These clever and unique collage designs created by artist, Denise Fiedler are just the inspiration I need for my room. Perhaps I don't need new furniture, but a new view from the comfy chairs I already own.

Artist, Clare Potter, creates these beautiful porcelain flowers and floral arrangements. Her finely detailed designs are so realistic I had to take a second look! You can see more here in one of my favorite inspiration books, Simply Flowers, by Barbara Milo Ohrbach.

I love these buckets of notes from Tumbalina. Since I am constantly hunting for gift cards when I find the perfect gift, these fit every occasion, and they are neatly packaged in a bucket that keeps them organized. And now we carry them at Perennial Designs!

I would love to come home to this room, (featured in Country Living). I have always wanted a beautiful stone fireplace and this would be perfect. The apple green and citrus accents might be my inspiration colors for Spring.
